Taking Pictures is Making Memories:
Being a PhotoPass Photographer

For many, a trip to Walt Disney World is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Just turning the corner and seeing Cinderella Castle can bring a tear to the eye. So getting to capture those precious moments was just the most special job in the world.

Being a PhotoPass Photographer requires a combination of skill, creativity, and guest relations. I use a DSLR camera to take photos and use my knowledge of composition, metering, and depth of field to take the best possible pictures for our guests. I get to be most creative in the Royal Portrait Studio inside Sir Mickey's shop, a specialty training I received in August of 2022. Unlike taking photos on Main Street, where I have to balance imagination with high efficiency, I'm able to take my time with guests in the studio and provide a unique and genuine experience with a personalized session, featuring props and Magic Shots.

In October of 2022, I earned the position of Coordinator of the Sales and Service Center where guests can print photos, find missing photos, and receive help with photo package purchases or other issues with the My Disney Experience app. Being SSC Coordinator is a leadership position, as in the evening when we are most busy, I keep things running smoothly, assist cast with more complicated situations, and can handle escalated experiences as they arise. I am also well versed in My Disney Experience, and can solve most problems. This was one of my favorite positions in the PhotoPass role, as I got to work closely with guests and cast.

In April of 2024, I decided to move from Orlando to be closer to family. It pained me to say goodbye to a job I loved so much, but I am so excited for my next opportunity.

Grape Soda Recognitions

Cast Members, and guests by proxy, are able to recognize other cast members' outstanding work through "Grape Sodas," which we can send through the Disney intranet. These are a few that I've earned since joining the Magic Kingdom Photopass team. To date, I have received 47 Grape Soda recognitions.
